About (becoming) a woman for Him:

My goal with this blog is to create a place for Christian women (or women interested in becoming Christians) to talk about what that actually means: CHRISTIAN women.  How do we become women who live for our King?

What I am not interested in is creating a space for people to malign the Word of God or discourage women who are trying to fulfill their roles as godly women.  There are plenty of sites dedicated to debating the merits (or lack thereof) of the Christian viewpoint.  I’m also happy to talk about that sort of thing over email (awomanforhim@gmail.com).  I like discussions of that sort, and I certainly encourage them in my classroom — a place where all viewpoints should be welcome and discussed.  That’s just not the point of this blog.

That being said, we don’t all have to agree on everything.  I imagine I’ll say things that you won’t agree with — and if you comment enough, you’ll say things that I don’t agree with.  That’s okay — as long as it’s done prayerfully and in the right spirit.  We all have different experiences, and it’s that sort of variety of perspectives that can make a site like this lively and useful.  But I’m not okay with this blog becoming mired in hateful or hurtful debate.

My goal with this blog is to live out Hebrews 10:23-24, in the company of other women: “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess for He who promises is faithful.  And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.”

The idea of this blog, then, is to ENCOURAGE other women who are trying to live their lives for God — and trying, each day, to understand more fully what that means.

None of us are the godly wives we should be (works-in-progress!), but my hope is that by talking about some of these things we can all get better. Dan and I are doing well! I hope your family is too.
